Local School Districts
San Marcos Consolidated Independent School District manages all San Marcos schools. The city has 11 different schools from Elementary to High School.

Utilities
Power, Water, Sewer, Drainage, and Trash are all billed from the city of San Marcos. You can find billing information on the San Marcos City website.
Texas Department of Public Safety
The Texas Department of Public Safety is your main resource for driver's licenses and vehicle registration.
Driver's License
- Individuals new to Texas have 90 days to exchange their license for a Texas one. Info can be found on the Texas Department of Public Safety website.
Vehicle Registration
- Individuals new to Texas have 30 days to obtain vehicle registration for the state of Texas.
- Obtaining registration requires a state inspection (Not required after 1 September 2025). Fee is $7.50
- Proof of insurance is needed in the amount of 30k per individual 60k per vehicle and 25k in property damage and must be shown to the inspector
- Visit the county tax assessor collector office to get Texas plates and registration completed. Locate a tax assessor office near you.
- You will need to bring your insurance card, the vehicle inspection report, and proof of ownership of the vehicle such as title or registration from a previous state
- For Veteran or military honors plates there is no fee beyond the $7.50
