About the Compensation Study

Texas State University partnered with CBIZ Compensation Consulting to conduct a thorough review of staff and faculty compensation practices. The study’s objectives were to:

  • Ensure pay is competitive to attract and retain top talent
  • Align compensation structures with university goals and market standards
  • Provide clear, market-based salary structures for all positions

The study included a market analysis, salary structure development, and recommendations for implementation. Data from peer institutions and multiple salary surveys were used to benchmark positions and set the new pay structure.


Key Findings

  • Market Alignment: On average, staff salaries at Texas State were found to be about 95.8% of the market median.New Salary Structure: A new, market-based salary structure has been developed for staff positions, aligning grade midpoints with market medians
  • Pay Adjustments: Recommendations include bringing all employees to at least the minimum of their new salary range
  • Ongoing Review: The university will update structures and review pay annually to maintain market competitiveness.
